The application hotplug2-dnode is a bridge between the old /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug interface used mainly in 2.4 kernels and new uevent method, using socket.
Once executed, it reads the event passed through environment variables and arguments, turns it into uevent format, generates the possibly missing variables and passes onwards using netlink socket.
